Supplements Guide Keeping You Right

The Science and Research Behind Nitric Oxide

Nitric Oxide is a highly volatile gas that serves as a neurotransmitter in the body.  Put simply, NO signals the body to do certain things.  Of most interest to those trying to build muscle, nitric oxide signals the blood vessals to expand, thereby increasing the flow of blood to muscles.  With increased bloodflow, the muscles are provided with greater amounts of nutrients, protein, and valuable oxygen.  This creates the intended benefits of greater size, endurance, and allows for faster muscle growth and quicker recovery times.

Do Nitric Oxide Supplements Work?

While we have now established that Nitric Oxide in the body does indeed help bodybuilders, the key question is now whether or not NO supplements provide the same benefits.  In short, the answer seems to be a resounding yes.  Most nitric oxide supplements come in some form of the amino acid L-Arginine.  Arginine itself may have the ability to potentially increase levels of Human Growth Hormone, or HGH, in the body.  However, Arginine also effectively produces NO in the body.  Many NO supplements also contain additional useful ingredients to enhance the postive effects of Nitric Oxide.

Potential Side Effects of NO

There are no documented side effects from Nitric Oxide itself.  However, since most supplements come in the form of Arginine (or L-Arginine), there are some potential side effects.  As with all amino acids, over dosage of Arginie can lead to nausea, diarrhea, and weakness and fatigue.  Side effects tend to be rare and mild, and can often be avoiding by paying careful attention to dosage.  Many protein supplements and other amino acid supplements contain arginine, which could be a potential cause of over dosage.

All in all, if you are trying to gain and build muscle, you should probably try taking an NO supplement.  Nitric Oxide is a well researched gas, and it’s effects in the body are well documented.  Take advantage of Nitric Oxide supplements to get those bodybuilding gains you want.

Whats is L-Glutamine?

L-Glutamine is recognised as a conditional amino acid, it is made in the body but can be supplemented in tablet form, such as L-Glutamine. It is now part of regular supplementation by body builders, power lifters and endurances athletes.

Mainly synthesised in muscles, L-Glutamine levels can drop upto 50% during bouts of exercise, whether it be strenuous, heavy lifting or endurance activities. By consuming L-Glutamine as a supplement, you can increase levels stored in the muscles as well as help with immediate repair and stop catabolism after a work out. The best time to take L-Glutamine tablets are during but more importantly, immediately after training as this is the time muscles are at the lowest levels of L-Glutamine and are in a catabolic state. The next best time to supplement is before bed. Your body repairs itself during this time and taking L-Glutamine will increase muscle recovery while you sleep. This handy amino acid also increases Human Growth Hormone within blood plasma, which as we know stimulates muscle growth; it can increase glycogen stores in muscles and with regular supplementation reduces fatigue and can help with injury.

Taking L-Glutamine isn’t only for those who train intensively. It is beneficial for those with a hectic lifestyle and for those who find themselves on the go or with stressful jobs. L-Glutamine has found to be helpful to the body during times of stress, injury, illness and trauma or through life long illness. It can help boost the immune system and has found to be particularly beneficial as a postoperative supplement, increasing healing time of surgical wounds.

Ensure you never miss out on taking your L-Glutamine during or after your workout by storing the tablets in your Core150 protein shaker, along with your post workout protein and carbs you will optimise muscle recovery and growth.

What is Creatine Monohydrate?

Creatine monohydrate is the most scientifically proven and effective sports product on the market.  Over the years its popularity has increased, used by bodybuilders, footballers and athletes, even become increasingly popular with women serious about increasing strength, power and lean muscle mass.

Naturally occurring in the body, creatine monohydrate can be supplemented, such as using Creatine Monohydrate to increase levels within the muscles.  Creatine is made in the liver, kidneys and pancreas then transported to the muscles via the blood stream.  Once there, creatine is then converted into creatine phosphate, which regenerates the adenosine triphosphate, the main energy source within our muscles.

The best way to supplement creatine monohydrate is by using powders.  Powders such as are Creatine Monohydrate, which is 100% pure, can be used throughout the day allowing for creatine levels to increase in muscle tissues.

Adenosine triphosphate or ATP is used up extremely quickly when exercising, such as weight lifting; the stores are depleted after 5-10 seconds.  Once the energy from ATP has been used the body then turns to creatine phosphate, this is then converted to ATP to then immediately used as energy; this happens within seconds.  If there isn’t enough creatine phosphate available, it turns to glycogen, which can take upto 20 seconds to be converted to ATP.

Saturating the muscles with creatine monohydrate allows there to be a ready available amount in the muscles to be converted to ATP when ATP is all used.  Saturating muscles in this way with creatine monohydrate leads to increased stores of creatine phosphate which will lead to increased strength, power and lean muscle mass.  This is the idea behind creatine loading.

Creatine loading allows for a build up or saturation as we have been calling it.  When loading with Creatine Monohydrate, the recommended loading dosage is 20 grams per day for 5 days.  The easiest way to do this is split it into 4 x 5 grams, in water or other supplements.  This is done for 5 days, after that you are then into maintenance phase.  5 grams a day for upto 10 weeks will be sufficient enough to ensure there is enough creatine in the muscles.

Carrying around a tub of creatine when loading is awkward and inconvenient.  Storing Creatine Monohydrate in your CORE150TM will allow you to complete the loading phase of your creatine cycle with the knowledge of having exact measured dose in each compartment or in the Core150TM cup itself.

What is Whey Protein isolate 80

Whey Protein Isolate 80 is designed to give 80% whey in the form of a triple whey complex.  This supplement has an optimum blend of instantised, de-lactosed pure whey isolate, whey protein concentrate and hydrolysed whey.

The triple whey complex has been formulated together to ensure your muscles are given the best protein sources as quickly as possible, allowing repair and growth to begin immediately.  Pure whey isolate and hydrolysed whey are pure forms of whey, ensuring fast and immediate action on starving and catabolic muscles.  Hydrolysed whey is already pre-digested meaning amino acids can be absorbed by the body more rapidly than intact proteins maximising delivery of amino acids to the muscles.  Just what you need after an intense weights session.  The whey protein concentrate, as well as providing quality protein, also delivers well needed fats, carbohydrates and cholesterol to the body after a workout.

WPI 80 has been fortified with high levels of essential, non-essential and conditional amino acids.  The input of these BCAA’s, especially L-Glutamine will ensure there is optimum support for muscle growth and recovery. WPI 80 is rapidly absorbed allowing the BCAA’s to be taken up by the muscles at a faster rate.

With its fast acting proteins, WPI 80 is brilliant for immediately after your workout, although it can be taken at any time of the day.  It is an ideal protein supplement for breakfast, fasting acting proteins combined with slow release oats in a Core150 shaker and you are giving your muscles the best kick start to the day after a full nights sleep of recovery and growth. Mixing a 30g scoop of WPI 80 with 300mls of water or skimmed milk will give a great tasting shake.  Three 30g scoops in your Core150TM compartment and you have no excuse not to have protein with you at all times.
